About

About this site

El Dorado Chimney Sweep is an independent referral and advertising service for chimney work in El Dorado County, California. It is not a chimney company, and this page explains what that means in practice.

What we are and what we are not

This site does not sweep chimneys. There is no truck, no crew, and no shop. What there is: a phone number that connects you with licensed independent chimney contractors who work this county, and a set of pages written to be genuinely useful about chimneys in this specific place.

The contractors carry their own insurance, hold their own licenses, set their own prices, and do their own scheduling. When you book work, your agreement is with them. If the work is good, that is their credit. If there is a problem with it, they are who you take it up with, and any reputable one would rather hear about it than not.

The reason to be this blunt on a page most people skip is simple. Plenty of sites in this line of business dress themselves up as the contractor, invent an address, and hope you never notice. That approach makes it impossible to tell what you are actually calling. This one tells you up front, which costs us nothing and lets you decide with the facts.

Why there are no reviews here

You will not find testimonials, star ratings, team photos, an address, or a founding year on this site. Not because we could not produce them, but because every single one would be fabricated.

A referral service has no crew to photograph and no shop to put on a map. Any "Serving El Dorado County since 1987" line here would be a decoration. Any five star review would be something someone typed. Both are common and both are worthless to you, because a review you cannot verify tells you nothing except that the site owner knows what reviews look like.

What is on this site instead is information you can check against reality: real price ranges, real elevations, the actual California spark arrestor spec, and the specific way chimneys behave in this county. If any of it turns out to be wrong, that is a fair thing to hold against us. That seemed like a better trade than a page of invented praise.

How this is paid for

The contractors compensate us for referring callers. You pay nothing to this site, and the referral does not add anything to the price you are quoted.

That arrangement has an obvious bias built into it, so it is worth naming rather than hiding. We are paid when you call, which creates a pull toward telling everyone they urgently need work.

Where that pull got resisted is visible on the pages themselves. The El Dorado Hills page says most gas inserts do not need an annual sweep, which is true and costs us calls. The FAQ says creosote logs have a limited real use rather than dismissing them outright, and it tells you how to look up your own flue with a flashlight and decide for yourself. The cost page publishes ranges instead of "call for pricing", which lets you tell whether a quote is fair before you dial.

The self-interested reason for all of that: a referral service that sends contractors to homes that do not need work does not last. The contractors stop taking the calls, and then there is no business. Honest information and a working business point the same direction here, which is a comfortable place to be.

The phone number

The number on this site is a tracking number. It rings through to a chimney contractor working in El Dorado County, and the tracking is how the contractor knows where the call came from. It is not a call center.

Calls may be recorded for that purpose. California is a two-party consent state, so if a call is recorded you hear an announcement at the start and can hang up if you would rather not be. We do not sell your number, add it to a list, or hand it to several companies who all call you back. It goes to one contractor. More detail on that is on the how it works page.

About the prices

The ranges on this site are typical El Dorado County numbers, published so you have a reference point before you call. A sweep of an open fireplace runs about $180 to $280. A wood stove or insert runs $220 to $350. A Level 2 inspection runs $250 to $450.

They are not quotes and they cannot be. Nobody can price your chimney without knowing your roof, your flue, and what is in it, which is why a steep metal roof in Camino and a single-story composition roof in Diamond Springs are honestly different numbers for the same nominal job. If a quote comes back outside a range you read here, ask why. There is usually a real answer and it is usually access.

About the photos

Every photograph on this site is a real photograph, licensed for commercial use, and verified to actually have been taken in El Dorado County. No AI images. That verification was not a formality: searches for local landmarks returned photos taken hundreds of miles away, and those were rejected rather than used because the caption sounded right. Sources and licenses are on the credits page.

Contractors

If you run a licensed chimney business in El Dorado County and want to talk about the calls from this site, the number on this page reaches us too. We would rather work with fewer contractors who do good work than route calls to whoever answers.
